eyes

photo credit shared with lenka ulrichova

not everyone loves this photo, but for me simple is king. the background has good elements, the repeated columns and a balance of light and dark shapes. it's the eyes though that i think draw me to the image. although it's hard to see in this image, the detail with the irises in the photo are great. i totally forgot about this image. it was the only time i worked with lenka or the model D. it was my first time working as an art director. which like being a photographer without holding the camera. working with the vision of the shoot and being able to take a step back and asking, "does this fit with the other images? am i telling a story? is it the story i want to tell?"

shooting notes
i don't remember all the details, but i know we had a fill flash on the model. my guess is that it was to the right (since you can tell the sun is coming from the left). there was also a reflector to help bounce some of the sunlight back on the model.
