so i'm a huge fan of minimalist architecture. while few people have visited my apartment while i was working in IB, those who have always commented on how spare it seemed. it had it cleaned once a month, but since i barely lived there (only for sleep a few hours night) it looked like a hotel room more than anything else. and while detractors say it lacks warmth and a sense of home. those who know me, know that i'm a lover of functional space.
i mean really, do you really need all that crap cluttering up your room? how many sets of china do you really really need? it helps that i moved every couple years so i'm incentivized to throw away clutter, but in a perfect home everything would be tucked away... it's all about maximizing the open space. then again i take it to an extreme. i don't own any photos. unless they were given to me, and even those sooner than later make it into a storage box labeled photos. and i know it's sounds cold, but it's not that bad - i always scan the image and put it on my smartphone which i look at much more frequency than my walls.
some say it looks empty, but i say its open and free. it doesn't help that the apartment was furnished all in white, black and tan. and almost all of it was from ikea. (for a point of psychological analysis, my mother's home is the exact opposite.)
the whole reason of this post was to show you this amazing house built in spain. super simple. the bed even folds up into the wall so the space can be opened up for other uses, like morning stretches or yoga! there a bunch more photos on the full page.
via arquitectura arkinetia, lots more images after the jump.

Look at all that shelf space... it would be hard for me not to fill that up with books.
