to photograph or to not photograph that is the question

a few people know that i'm considering winding down my photography efforts and moving onto new activities. those who have always known me to take photos, they believe it is bizarre that i would just decide to give up shooting. even those who have known me before i started photography (i.e. my family) think it's odd that i would give it up, especially since only a few months ago i was considering shooting more after i finished school. but i think it may be time to shift my focus onto new endeavors.

but first a quick recap: photography became a main time commitment after junior year in college. that's when it started getting a bit crazy. pretty much since then till now, it's been the majority artistic outlet, before that time it was the classic visual arts: drawing and painting. over the years music has taken more and more time - mostly classical music (going to prague and austria for thanksgiving is a good example). oh and there was a year or two where paper making was an interesting hobby. if i went back to it i think i'd be much better today. but i'd like to visit japan first.

i'm not sure where i'll go next - i've always had a love of furniture, but i need a shop to start that... and that won't happen for a while. design is intriguing in general - specifically product design - a trip to the nordic countries and japan (design meccas) over the summer would be amazing, but the summer travel list is already so crowded - but more on that in a future post.

i've thought about other random things like typography. but i'm already weird enough as it is... creating my own font will only waste the little social capital i have.

any thoughts?
