picking the first of anything, always seems like a giant step. a step that people will judge all future steps upon. the weight of such a decision can be almost crushing upon my shoulders. until i realize that no one cares what i do and then i become quite free and carefree, making decisions rashly and without much deliberation. the innumerable joys of being unknown.

i think the quote was used in some nike ads. mr. macauley was a famous basketball center so his reference was directed more towards sports. but i think it's generally applicable. i've used the quote for motivation over the years. and although i'm not a competitive person, its always helped to remind me that there are others out there who are hungrier, pushing harder, sleeping less to get better.
